We need to concentrate on reality, not what could have been - to know for better or for worse what the reality is -
The photographic project highlights the possibility of breaking down cultural barriers thanks to art. After crossing the sea with boats, the two men are looking from the other side, with more hope for their future. Hope that seems to have been denied to others. The Basilicata Region, since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011, has seen its territory changed from a cultural point of view, which today hosts, in the Ex Felandina, one of the largest "ghettos" in Italy, where actually live more than 1000 political refugees. The two African men, one Senegalese and the other Nigerian, pose thoughtfully but happily in front of Basilicata sea. The photographic project wants to break down cultural barriers, to not be afraid of the stranger, but to be in relation with the present reality.
